Pre-Tryout Skates – All players expected to attend
In order to participate in any of the tryout skates, you must:
1.Register with USA Hockey or the 2021-22 season. Print out your registration number and bring it to tryouts.
2. Go to www.scaha.comand get your player’s personal 5-digit code. You will need your USA Hockey Registration Number. Bring the code confirmation email to tryouts.
3. Go to www.sdice.com to register for tryouts. The one-time online registration cost for all the tryout skates is $50, but $60 at the door, so register online!

SDIA Hockey Club staff will conduct a player and parent meeting following the tryout for all players chosen. Families must be prepared to complete the following items:
Electronic Letter of Intent - You will need your SCAHA passcode to complete this step.
Financial Agreement, invoices will be emailed for club deposit and dues.
Team fitting; be prepared to complete a uniform sizing upon being chosen for the team. (New uniforms this season all players must be fitted)

For all 2011, 2012, 2013 age players interested in competitive Mite
Tournament. Tryouts will be held on ? at 4:25PM for our A-select and B-select
teams.
We will also have roster spots available for our B2 development team.All players interested in playing mite tournament are encouraged to
participate in the tryouts. Everyone will be placed with a team.

COACH DAN AREL - SQUIRT BB
Coach Dan Arel grew up playing hockey in Rochester, NH where he played for the Division II Spaulding High School hockey team.
While playing was always a passion, Dan found himself to be far more a student of the game and understanding how plays worked, and that drove him into coaching.
Dan began coaching for the San Diego Oilers as an assistant for their 16U team before moving into a head coaching role first with 8U and then on to 10U.
He is currently coaching the San Diego Oilers 10U BB team. He has led his teams to a total of seven championship banners thus far. Dan also serves as the programs Director of Youth Hockey Development.
In 2020, Coach Dan was named Coach of the Year by the San Diego Gulls Foundation and joined the NHL Coaches Association's Mentorship Program.
He is also a member of the Hockey Players Club's Mastermind of Coaches.
Coach Mark Schwamberger - Mite Dev
Coach Mark Schwamberger grew up playing AAA hockey in Rochester, New York.
From there, he had the honor to move to Ann Arbor, Michigan and play for the elite United States National Team Development Program (NTDP) for two years.
After the NTDP, Mark played in the United States Hockey League (USHL), and then finished his career competing at the NCAA level.
Mark joined the excellent cadre of Mite coaches at SDIA in 2019 and brings with him a passion for player development.
JEFF COLLINS
- PEEWEE A
Jeff has a deep passion for the game of hockey, which fuels his effort to bring out the best in the kids he coaches.
Although he's been playing for nearly 40 years, he started coaching hockey in 2017 when his two sons began to play.
Jeff quickly learned the incredible reward of working with other kids, from first time skaters to seasoned players.
Connecting with the kids, setting high expectations and challenging them to develop their game are core elements of his coaching style.

AUSTiN MILLER
- PEEWEE A
Pewee A Coach Austin Miller has been a coach of youth hockey for 6 years and has 38 years of experience with hockey.
He started playing youth hockey in 1982 in Binghamton, NY.
He played Adams, Mites, Squirts, Peewees, Bantams, Junior C (Binghamton Junior Rangers), Junior B(Binghamton Junior Rangers), Team Central New York Select Team, Junior A (Soo Indians), Team USA Junior, Division 1 CCHA(Western Michigan Broncos), and the ECHL(Mississippi Sea Wolves).
He also helped run the T-Cola Hockey School for 4 years and ran numerous learn to play hockey programs.
Austin has a passion for improving everyone around him and he brings that mindset to coaching on and off the ice.
He teaches the kids to have Confidence, Communication, and to Compete.
The team will focus on fun, fundamentals, and loving the game.
STEVE LYONS
- SCAHA SQUIRT BB COACH
Steve Lyons is the Head Coach of the SCAHA Squirt BB Team at San Diego Ice Arena.
Steve has been helping develop players at SDIA for 5 years now.
Steve currently is a Level 3 Coach through USA Hockey and is consistently using the ADM Model to structure practices to use proven methods to grow players.
He shows great enthusiasm and passion for growing players skills, development and helping the players get to the next level.
Steve’s mission is always to make the game fun, competitive, and a family environment in which everyone can grow together!
